Dear LM is CM Members,

There is a building consensus that LM can and should be a significant part of both mitigation and adaptation to CC. Not sure if anyone is thinking about this...but I am very interested to see if we can make a case that LM can be certified as a way to avoid CO2 and at the same time avert DALYs and if both outcomes could be monetized become tradeable credits in carbon markets. Carbon markets are thing and are going to be a bigger thing....would love to start a paper at least putting this into the zeitgeist...healthcare as well as food producerts could benefit. We could try to get someone from Rubicon Carbon to join this group. We need to be part of the "race to integrity."

Second, we are having an all CHS meeting on October 22nd. I would love for our group to plan some programming (a call for abstracts is coming). At any rate I want to make sure LM as CM is on the map for Oct.

Would ppl like to meet to discuss ideas?

Activation!

Hi LM colleagues! Tamiko, Ali, and Mani--you all have been doing such great work on manifesting LM as a critical part of health for individuals, workers, and populations! I would love to have a group meeting to discuss how we can amplify this message to some of the professional groups we are beginning to engage. Ali-I know you are working on a white paper--do you have pub date yet?

I recently attended a climate focused meeting in the investment sector--and when I mentioned I was a LM pracitioner everyone said "what's that." When I explained it there was huge interest. There are sig growth opportunities for LM beyond direct care. Would love to get this out!

Perhaps we can have a meeting to brain storm about next steps.

Send me an email if you are interested!

Best,

Emily

position statement as a starting point

Thanks for adding me! We'll have a white paper on lifestyle medicine and climate change coming out of the American Colllege of Lifesyle Medicine soon which I hope we can use as a launchpad. Happy to brainstorm over with this group over the coming weeks.
